It’s the start of a new year and in less than a month the Middle Eastern Bunkering Convention will welcome sponsors and delegates to its 10th edition in Dubai.
MEBC 2025 will be one of the first key marine fuel conferences of the year to address the commercial, operational and regulatory challenges facing the industry on a global and a regional scale. The event provides an excellent forum for full and frank discussion on these issues, as well as the opportunity to reconnect with sector colleagues and establish new business relationships.
A decade on from the first MEBC, the commercial environment for the bunker sector and for shipping is even more difficult and complicated to navigate. Looking out to the next 10 years and the picture may become even more challenging, with an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape and the introduction of challenging environmental regulations which will put counterparty relationships under the spotlight and place a heavy compliance and financial burden on the shipping sector.
Added to this, the shipping, marine fuel and port sectors are facing tough decisions over decarbonisation strategies. There are many questions to be answered over what the bunker supply infrastructure for conventional and new fuels will look like in the run-up to 2030 and beyond, and what AI and digitalisation can add to the industry’s ways of doing business.

Training opportunities at MEBC 2025
To optimise your time spent in Dubai and to support your professional development, MEBC also offers the chance to attend two informative and comprehensive training courses.
The world-renowned Oxford Bunker Course, taught by Course Director Nigel Draffin and a team of highly respected experts, is taking place during the week and all course attendees will be able to attend networking lunches and receptions alongside conference delegates.
The Oxford Bunker Course is where many marine fuel professionals start their industry careers and make those all-important first business connections, so the opportunity to join this course in Dubai should not be missed.

We will also be running a new one-day course on 3 February at MEBC: The next step in bunkering – an introduction to mass flow meters and digital solutions.
This sharply focused and highly relevant course will be delivered by Claudia Beumer, Founder/Director, C4fuel, and Julie Louise Nielsen, Global Head of Bunker Sales, StormGeo.
The course will encourage delegate interaction and questions. It will be useful for anyone whose role requires a knowledge of marine fuel and delivery processes and practices and fuel measurement, as well as an understanding of how new digital solutions can bring accuracy, transparency and cost and time efficiencies into bunker supply operations.
