A Unique Franchise Model Bringing French Charm to the Middle East
4th June 2024, Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Mondoux Cafés are revolutionizing the dining experience in Dubai by blending French elegance with Middle Eastern hospitality. The Slovak brand, now with three bustling locations in Dubai and a fourth on the way, offers a unique franchising model that combines affordability with luxury. “Customers don’t just come to us for coffee or cake. They come to us for an experience,” says Vera Clement, the visionary director of Mondoux. This approach has allowed Mondoux to carve out a niche in the competitive Dubai market, where it stands out for its distinctive atmosphere and high-quality offerings.
Dubai’s food scene is a melting pot of global cuisines, boasting approximately 15,000 restaurants. With new establishments emerging and vanishing daily, the competition is fierce. Mondoux entered this bustling market in 2019, aiming to find and fill a unique niche. “In Dubai, you find extremes – ultra-luxury dining or average spots. The ‘affordable luxury’ segment is underrepresented, and we’ve capitalized on this gap,” explains Clement.
Dubai’s residents have a distinct lifestyle, characterized by a love for indulgence and socializing. “People here enjoy everything more intensely. They prefer cappuccinos over espressos, relish daily acai bowls, and often book their favourite tables for an entire day,” says Clement, a seasoned professional with 16 years in the global culinary scene.
Mondoux has earned praise from none other than Burak Özdemir, the celebrated Turkish chef known as CZN Burak. His frequent visits to Mondoux for breakfast are a testament to the café’s quality. “Having a world-renowned chef with millions of followers enjoy our menu is the greatest tribute to our brand and team,” Clement proudly shares.
Mondoux’s success in Dubai is further solidified by its dedication to authentic, high-quality gastronomy. The café is regularly ranked among the top 10 breakfast spots in Dubai. “We make everything in-house, from pastries to granola. Quality is paramount; for instance, our Parmesan is aged for at least 20 months,” highlights Clement.
The work culture at Mondoux in Dubai contrasts sharply with its Slovak counterpart. “In Europe, individualism prevails. Here, teamwork is everything. We work six days a week, with everyone, including myself, fully involved,” explains Clement, who fluently speaks four languages and often assists her team directly.
Mondoux has 14 branches across Europe and continues to expand. Looking ahead, Mondoux plans to expand its unique concept worldwide through franchising. “Franchising is like expanding your family. Each location maintains its distinctive atmosphere and warmth, avoiding the soullessness of massive chains,” Clement concludes with a smile.
