His Excellency Humaid Mohammed Al Qatami, Chairman of Board of Trustees of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, honored Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Centre for Giftedness and Innovation Team at the foundation’s headquarters in Dubai for their participation in the FLL Robotics Competition 2024 held in Bodo, Norway, next to more than 50 teams from around the world.
In his speech on this occasion, His Excellency Al Qatami emphasized the importance of continued student participation in international, regional, and local competitions, highlighting the creative skills and innovative thinking of UAE students. He attributed these capabilities to the empowerment provided by the educational institutions in the country, supported by the wise leadership and the Ministry of Education. His Excellency praised the student team’s performance in this international competition, which features elite students from various countries and is marked by strong competition that showcases scientific capabilities and advanced personal traits among students.
His Excellency Al Qatami added that Hamdan Foundation will continue its support to enhance the available expertise, preparing them further to compete in elite competitions across various scientific fields related to education. He noted that this direction aligns with the foundation’s mission to support and foster educational excellence.
The students of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Centre for Giftedness and Innovation secured top positions in the Open Robotics Championship 2024. The team won third place in the robot performance at the European Open FLL Robotics Championship and first place in the friendly competition, defeating the top four teams in robot performance in the semi-finals and finals.
The student team officially qualified for the international championship after winning first place in robot design and first place in robot performance in the national version of the competition this year.
This championship is considered one of the largest scientific and technological events for children and youth, with local competitions held annually in 110 countries worldwide. Students participate through enjoyable practical learning, aimed at helping them build a better future. Participants also gain real skills that assist them in problem-solving through a global robotics program.
