Budding Hong Kong entrepreneurs represent diverse tech sectors, including many green and health tech start-ups
19 June 2024 –Start-up Express is a Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) development programme founded in 2018 and tailor made for start-ups that provide innovative technology products or solutions and intend to enter the international market by building connections, exploring markets, seeking partners and enhancing brand awareness. In addition to creativity and marketing sensitivity, networking and exposure opportunities are also crucial for start-ups.
Start-up Express has already nurtured 60 start-ups and helped them tap into new markets, win global recognition and scale up substantially over the past six years and, through the HKTDC network, numerous start-ups have successfully obtained substantial business orders and secured partners and investment.
This year’s Start-up Express attracted more than 200 applications, with finalists from education tech, fintech, AR/VR, climate tech and food tech sectors. A number of start-ups in green tech, health tech and smart city have been selected with many integrating AI to provide innovative and creative services and products.
The Final Pitching Day will be on 27 June (next Thursday). After welcoming remarks by Stephen Liang, Assistant Executive Director of HKTDC, 20 finalists, – all Hong Kong tech start-ups – will present to a panel of expert judges who will select 10 winners. My Favourite Start-up Award by live audience vote
Apart from the 10 winners, one winner will receive the ESG Award for the most sustainable and socially impactful start-up, while the My Favourite Start-up Award will be decided by a live audience vote.
HKTDC will provide winning start-ups with a series of curated activities including training workshops, mentor sharing, an exploratory mission to the Greater Bay Area, marketing campaigns, publicity exposure and investor engagement activities, helping them to learn key business skills and gain the latest market intelligence.
Meetings with leading business leaders will also be arranged for winning start-ups to learn about entrepreneurial success. Winning start-ups will also have opportunities to interact with global buyers and investors directly by participating in local and overseas trade events. HKTDC will also provide business-matching opportunities for the winning start-ups to connect with potential partners and offer comprehensive branding opportunities across various media to generate brand awareness.
