- Homegrown Dubai suncare company SunKiss has launched a first-of-its-kind sunscreen featuring a bespoke scent for individual hospitality brands
- The new offering, which includes working with hotels to produce exclusive scents, follows a spike in growth and innovation as the hospitality industry capitalises on the company’s expertise
SunKiss, the UAE homegrown developer of sustainable and environmentally friendly suncare products, has launched the world’s first bespoke sun protection scent, providing hospitality brands with the opportunity to develop a unique fragrance for their property or hospitality group.
The company, which has added this new line following a period of growth and expansion in the hospitality sector, and underscored by hoteliers increasingly looking to elevate the experience for guests, recently announced its first signature scent collaboration with one of Dubai’s most exclusive five-star hotels.
SunKiss, a market leader in sustainable packaging, sun protection products, and customer experience, designs and creates the company’s entire product portfolio, including reef-friendly formulas, in the UAE, continues to witness considerable growth in the region as demand from hoteliers has seen sales figures rocket by over 175% in the last year.
Joanna Barclay, Managing Director of SunKiss, said, “As a company, we have always focused on being clean-conscious and sustainable, with a fundamental goal of protecting both skin and the planet, and as such have spent years developing ocean-friendly and cruelty-free mineral-based SPF.”
“Over the past year, we have seen a notable increase in interest from hotels who wish to utilise our luxurious products to provide a superior guest experience. We are collaborating with hotels to fully comprehend their goals and create a product that reflects their brand. By providing hotels with their signature scent, guests can indulge in a five-star experience, knowing that the products are eco-friendly, crafted with the highest quality ingredients, provide exceptional protection from the sun’s harmful rays, and have a divine fragrance.”
“As a result, we are now reinvigorating and innovating our processes to offer this to the wider market in the UAE and the surrounding region.”
Since launching in 2020, the company has diversified from selling products to consumers via its website to now providing suncare products to hotels throughout the Middle East and an extensive network of yachting charters.
The company has launched a range of products specially created for the hotel industry to facilitate the demand from corporate hospitality clients. They include the Waterside range, which utilises easy-to-refill dispensers for guests to help themselves to sun protection and aftersun care as part of a hotel’s CSR initiatives, and the Sunbutler, which includes sunglass cleaning and face mists in reusable aluminium spray bottles that can be sustainably refilled.
For the yachting industry, crew and guests can use unique recyclable aluminium bottles to take advantage of made-to-order refill dispensers, which have been designed specifically for yachts to save space and reduce waste onboard.
The SunKiss Eco Refill has proved popular with both hotel clients and yachting customers by providing guests with a range of bathroom amenities in professional sizes, using 95% less packaging than standard-sized products, as has the company’s turn-down gifts, which includes aftersun gel and moisturiser, lip balm and hand care nourishment – the ideal remedy after a day at the pool or a long day onboard a yacht.
“The importance of sun protection can never be underestimated, particularly with several reports in recent years highlighting the connection between the rise in skin cancer and ultraviolet radiation (UVR) exposure. In addition to protecting ourselves, our company ethos is also about protecting the environment. With temperatures likely to rise by more than 1.5C above pre-industrial levels in the coming years, everyone needs to eliminate waste and become more environmentally friendly,” added Barclay.
“At SunKiss, we’ve reduced plastic usage by 90% across our entire product range and have significantly reduced our carbon footprint. We’ve also negated the impact we have on marine life thanks to the reef-friendly product,” she concluded.
