– With Expo 2020 Dubai’s Health and Wellness Week currently underway (27 January-2 February), His Excellency Vahan Kerobyan, Minister of Economy of Armenia on Sunday emphasised the importance of changing our attitudes to health, particularly the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, and towards the climate.
Speaking in an interview during his country’s National Day celebrations at Expo 2020 Dubai on Sunday, HE Vahan Kerobyan said: “Armenia is investing a lot in its healthcare system to bring people’s lives [back] to normal standards, so that we can ensure that our children and our parents are cured and cared for. I think this week [Expo 2020 Dubai’s Health and Wellness Week] will give us a lot of opportunities to learn new things about what’s going on in the world and also to present some things that are happening in Armenia now to see what opportunities we can pursue.”
His Excellency expressed his delight that Armenia’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai is ensuring more people discover, and plan to visit Armenia: “Our aim in participating in Expo 2020 Dubai is to present Armenia from different angles so that people who visit Expo will be more likely to visit and discover, or change their perception of, Armenia, and eventually do some business with Armenia – we are happy to see that many people who visit our pavilion have decided to discover more about, and visit Armenia, too.”
The Armenia Pavilion is themed ‘Ethnotech’, defined as “building the technological future based on the best traditions of the past”.
His Excellency added: “Many, many techniques and technologies were invented by Armenia, and we have presented just a very small part of these in the Armenia Pavilion – we want to emphasise the innovative nature of our nation, our love of science and how we also love to create something new to make people’s lives better.”
An agreement was signed between the National Investment Promotion Agency (IPA) of Armenia, Enterprise Armenia and the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Expo Media Centre.
His Excellency said: “This MOU is an agreement to support investments and trade in both countries, and we hope that this is the first step to change the level of our cooperation. Although Armenia and the UAE are strong trade partners, and the UAE is among the 10 biggest trading countries for Armenia, we hope that we can shift to the next level, increase our trade turnover and mutual investments dramatically, so that we gain more cooperation and friendship.”
