Armenia highlighted its cultural heritage through a beautiful display of traditional dance, with glamorous costumes and graceful movements, to celebrate the country’s National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai on Sunday.
His Excellency Vahan Kerobyan, Minister of Economy of Armenia attended the performance by the Armenian State Dance Ensemble, Barekamutyun, in Al Wasl Plaza.
His Excellency Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade and Najeeb Mohammed Al-Ali, Executive Director, Commissioner General’s Office, Expo 2020 Dubai welcomed HE Vahan Kerobyan.
HE Vahan Kerobyan said: “It is the first time that the Expo takes place in the Middle East, and by moving into the region, it has transformed into an even more international, exciting and powerful event. Expo 2020 Dubai provides an opportunity to strengthen our professional and economic assets, as well as to celebrate our friendship.
“Expo 2020’s Armenia Pavilion, located in the Opportunity District, takes all opportunities to develop future multicultural and mutual cooperation, as well as to showcase the country’s economic sectors such as tourism, the processing industry, [an] internationally competitive IT sector and modern initiatives for children’s education and wellbeing, and many others.”
Najeeb Al-Ali, said: “Armenia’s participation at Expo 2020 Dubai fuses the country’s culture and heritage with its modern technological advancements, to deliver a unique visitor experience, highlighting its potential across various sectors, including innovation and artificial intelligence.
“The relationship between the UAE and Armenia has witnessed significant growth across the political, economic and cultural spheres over the years, and we are keen to seek further engagement for our mutual benefit. Throughout Expo 2020 Dubai and beyond, we look forward to enhancing investmentand economic cooperation in a way that further accelerates the development and prosperity of our two nations.”
An agreement was signed later between the National Investment Promotion Agency (IPA) of Armenia, Enterprise Armenia and the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Expo Media Centre, aimed at strengthening bilateral institutional cooperation and fostering a framework for collaboration for trade and investment.
The Armenia Pavilion is themed as Ethnotech, defined as ‘building the technological future based on the best traditions of the past’. Guests are guided through the pavilion by video screens detailing Armenian culture, science and history before arriving at a luminous, interactive tree of life.
National and Honour Days at Expo 2020 Dubai are moments to celebrate each of Expo’s 200-plus International Participants, shining a light on their culture and achievements and showcasing their pavilions and programming.
Running until 31 March 2022, Expo 2020 invites visitors from across the planet to join the making of a new world in a six-month celebration of human creativity, innovation, progress and culture.
