The Singapore Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai has teamed up with Singapore Tourism Board (STB) to give visitors a taste of its delicious food through recipe kits, created in collaboration with Michelin-awarded Singaporean chef, Haikal Johari. Developed by UAE brand Naksha, the meal kits enable anyone to easily cook up classic Singaporean dishes at home.
Naksha’s Singapore Collection features a choice of three classic recipes to make and enjoy at home, devised by Johari, executive head chef at Michelin-starred restaurant Alma in Singapore.
During the launch event, ‘Stories of Taste and Passion’, at the Singapore Pavilion, visitors were treated to a taste of the three dishes – Lemak Cili Padi (creamy coconut curry with lime leaf and turmeric, teamed with rice noodles); Ngoh Hiang (crispy baked summer rolls with five-spice and paprika), and Asam Pedas (spiced tomato stew with tamarind and lemongrass, accompanied by jasmine rice).
Haikal said: “The three recipes included in this collection are all classics, much-loved in Singapore, but they are not always well-known in the wider world. We want to change that. The recipes taste delicious, which is most important, but they also offer an immersive Singapore cooking experience which is fuss-free, authentic and results in an impressive meal”.
The Singapore Collection recipe kits are available to buy at Spinneys and Waitrose stores across the UAE.
