DUBAI, 26 January 2022 – The 7th Annual Dubai International Project Management Forum was opened at Expo 2020 Dubai by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council on Wednesday.
The two-day forum brings together over 40 local and international management experts and influencers to discuss modern management concepts and project applications across a variety of sectors. More than 1,500 participants, including government officials, are attending the event.
In the keynote speech, Her Excellency Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, UAE Minister of Culture and Youth, said the nation, which is celebrating its Golden Jubilee, already speaks a global language: “The beautiful thing about this forum is that it does not limit speakers or projects to infrastructure or roads, but tackles different aspects that touch our daily lives. I would like to mention the Infinity Bridge Project, a project that is true to its name – characterised by infinity and endless ambition.”
HE Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi added: “It is also nice that the forum is interested in displaying artworks and creative works by Emiratis, especially people of determination, which is an important step that reflects the spirit of the UAE and its respect for artists.”
Dr Pippa Malmgren, economist, award-winning author and National Economic Advisor to former US President George W Bush, hailed Dubai as an extraordinary city that “succeeded in creating something no one ever imagined.”
Dr Malmgren said: “I remember how people used to come to this city to make a fortune and send it to other places… but today I see them bring their money and their companies here… They look to your expertise and what you are doing, to learn from what you’ve done… and done so quickly. This is part of Dubai’s transformation into a centre of the global economy.
“People will come to this country in search of inspiration… because you have shown how you can imagine something that seemed impossible and then actually make it happen.”
Dr Malmgren spoke about the dramatic change the world is experiencing in the metaverse where information doubles every 12 hours, according to the latest figures: “In this new world, the speed of change has become great, and this means that we will stop reading… and we will enter a world where we process information through virtual reality and augmented reality.”
The forum, which runs until 27 January, will discuss topics including project management in the knowledge economy, project benefits management, data science in project management, artificial intelligence, future project management offices, dynamic human-centric transformation and several other trending innovations.
