The Swiss Heidiseum – The Heidi Heritage Project, led by Dr. Peter Büttner and Peter Polzin, presented its diverse projects around the UNESCO World Heritage “Heidi” last Wednesday in the Swiss residence of the Consulate General in cooperation with the Swiss Embassy in Dubai. Most of the attending guests were familiar with Heidi as a Japanese cartoon series that was shown in the Arab world 40 years ago.
Most people were unaware that Heidi had already been broadcast as an Arabic radio play by the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation in 1968. In recent years, a large number of different Arabic-language editions of Heidi have come onto the market, showing that Heidi has long been part of children’s literature in the Arab world.
The Heidiseum has set itself the goal of introducing people to the Swiss icon Heidi and her universal messages in an innovative and inspiring way. Special attention is paid to the areas of art and AI. The theme of “Heidi” is also a matchmaker in the field of education. In collaboration with the International Scientific School Dubai, the Heidiseum held two workshops in the subjects of art and literature for the first time. With great joy and curiosity, the SISD students followed in the footsteps of Heidi and explored the Heidi story.
The aim now is to make the phenomenon accessible to future generations in a new way through cultural projects in the UAE. And this is exactly what the Heidiseum wants to achieve in the form of high-caliber exhibitions and projects in the UAE and is therefore seeking connections and partners to art and cultural institutions in the region.
