On December 6, 2024, the international beauty contest Beauty Queen of the Universe was held in Egypt’s new administrative capital of Cairo at the luxurious St. Regis Almasa Theater. Sponsored by EgyptAir and Misr Travel, this grand event highlighted Egypt’s capability to host world-class international events. Following the tradition of beauty pageants, the competition took place in the home country of the previous year’s winner, Mayada Baghdadi of Egypt. Over a span of ten days, participants from 50 countries competed for the coveted title of queen in a program rich with cultural and artistic activities.
Day 1: Women’s Empowerment Forum
The first day kicked off with a forum centered on women’s empowerment, held in the Turquoise Ballroom of the St. Regis Hotel. Contestants prepared and presented insightful video materials on this critical topic, sharing unique perspectives and inspiring stories. This event set the tone for the competition, emphasizing the intellectual and social contributions of the participants alongside their physical beauty.
Day 2: Nile River Yacht Experience
The second day offered participants a once-in-a-lifetime experience aboard a magnificent yacht. They enjoyed a sumptuous lunch while cruising along the iconic Nile River. On this day, contestants showcased their individual talents, ranging from singing and dancing to other artistic expressions. The experience was enhanced by the presence of Mohammed Shahin, the celebrated Egyptian singer and Star Academy winner, who serenaded the participants with his love songs. A vibrant team of singers and dancers kept the atmosphere lively throughout the day. Misr Travel provided logistical support, ensuring smooth transportation for all activities, while the Egyptian police ensured the safety and security of the participants.
Day 3: Cultural and Historical Exploration
Day three was dedicated to exploring Egypt’s rich cultural and historical heritage. Contestants visited the National Museum of Cairo, where they marveled at Egypt’s ancient artifacts, and the majestic pyramids of Giza. A stunning photo shoot took place at the pyramids, immortalizing the elegance of the contestants against these iconic monuments. Local restaurants treated the participants to exquisite Egyptian cuisine, giving them a taste of the country’s culinary traditions and warm hospitality.
Day 4: Media and Rehearsals
On the fourth day, participants engaged with the media, participating in interviews with television channels and newspapers. This provided them an opportunity to share their experiences and aspirations with a global audience. Simultaneously, rigorous daily rehearsals were conducted under the expert guidance of Ehab Alali, the renowned show director and choreographer from Sweden. Alali, who directed the inaugural Beauty Queen of the Universe pageant in the UAE in 2023, brought his exceptional expertise to ensure the show’s success.
Day 5: Spiritual and Historical Journey
The fifth day offered a profound spiritual and historical experience as participants explored Cairo’s ancient churches, mosques, and other sacred sites. The day’s highlight was a special presentation by Oksana Zhelyapova, Mrs. Bulgaria and a jury member, who gifted an ancient Coptic icon from Bulgaria to a local church. Contestants were immersed in Egypt’s rich tapestry of religious coexistence and historical wonders, deepening their appreciation for the country’s cultural diversity and spiritual heritage.
