‘Travesía Colombia’ Colombian Folklore Spectacle by Cayena Colfolk will be showcased at the Zabeel Theatre, Jumeirah Zabeel Saray on the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai
Dubai, UAE, 19 February 2024 … Cayena Colfolk is bringing Colombia to Dubai, showcasing the vibrant culture, music, and folkloric dance of the various regions of this diverse country – the first of its kind to be showcased in the UAE.
‘Travesía Colombia’, will be showcased on 28 April 2024 at the Zabeel Theatre, Jumeirah Zabeel Saray on Palm Jumeirah with shows at 16:00 and 20:30, featuring 45 professional Colombian dancers, musicians, and actors.
Travesía Colombia is a 90-minute spectacle of dance, music, and theatre that sweeps you off your feet and transports you to the vibrant heart of Colombia.
The show tells the story of Emirati Journalists who travel to Colombia to take a tour of this beautiful country, discovering how fascinating, diverse, extensive, and multicultural this land is. During their journey through the incredible and diverse regions of the country, the reporters experience the culture and the magnificent music and dances that have been created by the ancestors, full of stories, colourful costumes, and unique movements. The reporters end up overflowing with joy and fall in love with a unique and amazing place, carrying extraordinary scenes in their camera and of course in their hearts.

Produced and Directed by Judy Pizarro, a Colombian professional dancer who previously served for 10 years as the principal dancer of the National Ballet of Colombia (1997 – 2006).

About Judy Pizarro:
Marina Judith Perez Pizarro, known as Judy Pizarro, was born in Colombia and grew up surrounded by the local dance scene.
She joined folk dance groups in her hometown of Santo Tomás, in the Atlantic region of Colombia, at the age of 5.
Her professional career began in 1996 with the Ballet Nacional de Colombia (BNC), where she was a principal dancer for over 10 years. Throughout her career, she has explored different studio techniques such as Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Folklore, among others, while performing nationally and internationally in various events and festivals recognized worldwide.
She has represented Colombia in countries such as Brazil, Chile, USA, Italy, Germany, Ecuador, China, Mexico, Korea, among others, with the BNC and other dance companies such as the Ballet Folclórico Nuestra Colombia and the Ballet Folclórico Santafé de Bogotá.
Her academic training includes Classical Ballet, Jazz and Tap, Body conditioning for dance, Contemporary, Colombian Folklore, and Latin Rhythms.
Judy has also worked as a professional dancer for different television production companies, record label promotions and music videos, with artists such as: Carlos Vives, Fanny Lu, Adriana Botina, Carlos Artega, Silvestre, Dangond, Ivan Villazon, Fatiniza, Carlos Ponce, Aminu Adris
She has participated in television programs on R.T.I. and in the Circo de Kiko, among others.
Since 2007, she has been living in Dubai, where Judy currently works as a dancer, instructor and choreographer of Latin rhythms and different styles in the Middle East. In 2013, she founded and operates as Artistic Director, Cayena Colfolk in the United Arab Emirates.
