- The best of French gastronomy in the heart of Jumeirah
- New Business Lunch and “Weekend a la Francaise” Breakfast Indulgence
Odeon is this season’s hotspot for lovers of French gastronomy. The new culinary rendezvous is the love child of “gourmand” couple Chef Thomas Duhamel and partner Morgane Duhamel.
The first version of ODEON had initially seen the light of day in Oud Metha, as a small cafe, which catered to the French theater-goers of the Alliance Francaise. The name itself is reminiscent of historical “Theatre de l’Odeon” in Paris’ Latin Quarter. This year, the concept has nestled in the heart of Jumeirah, at the corner of Beach Road and Umm al Sheif, taking residence in a beautiful white villa.
The restaurant embraces the elegant codes of the modern brasserie, with comfortable blue velvet banquettes and armchairs, white table cloth, perfectly matched plates, refined cutlery and glassware. On the walls, black and white pictures from cult French movies and cultural moments ornate the decor, whilst a single red rose blossoms on each table to punctuate the overall simple sophistication with a dash of romance.
The stage is set for Executive Chef and Co-founder Thomas Duhamel’s impeccable cuisine. Mentored by Michelin-star Chef Yannick Alleno for 6 years, from Paris’ mythical Pavilion Ledoyen, to the exclusive Cheval Blanc in Courchevel and the One & Only The Palm here in Dubai, Chef Thomas Duhamel masters the intricate techniques of the French “art culinaire“. This passionate savoir-faire lead him to the kitchens of Zuma Dubai, where he stood at the helm of a team of 95 cooks for 2 years.
When ODEON opened in Jumeirah, he wanted to “recreate the French cuisine that everyone likes, simple and flavourful“. He hand-pickeds a variety of the finest and freshest seasonal produce, all special imports for him to develop a truly authentic menu. “I also want to provide real assistance to people who want to eat well everyday and share good food with their loved ones.”
“It’s back to school now and at ODEON, we wish to offer families and friends as many ways as possible to experience our ‘delicieuse‘ cuisine,” explains Partner and Co-founder Morgane Duhamel. Indeed, the team has put together offers for breakfast, business lunch and “Weekend a la Francaise“.
The villa spreads across three floors and soon the rooftop will open to panoramic views of the Dubai Skyline and Burj Khalifa. “We also wanted to give our guests the opportunity of taking a piece of ODEON home,” continues Morgane Duhamel.
On the ground floor, a beautiful “marche“, ODEON Market, offers a wide array of expertly sourced cheeses, meats and sea food, as well as a bountiful “epicerie“, “boulangerie” and “patisserie“, for the croissant and eclair lovers, “toujours“! Family dishes are also available for take-away, whilst all specialties can be ordered for delivery and event catering.
With the wide offering at heart, this season’s specials at ODEON can be tasted, as follows:
