kicks off eleventh season with memorable first concert
11 May 2022, Dubai, UAE: The InClassica International Music Festival has returned to Dubai and commenced its 11th edition with a stunning performance by the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Dmitry Yablonsky, featuring a solo performance by violinist Sergej Krylov, on Sunday, May 8th 2022.
The festival is a four-week celebration of classical music that will present 50 world-renowned soloists, 3 leading orchestras and 11 celebrated conductors, with 26 performances taking place at Dubai Opera.
Future performances at InClassica 2022 include appearances by the Berlin Symphony Orchestra and Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra. Joining these esteemed orchestras are other notable maestros such as Conrad van Alphen, Gianluca Marciano, Marius Stravinsky, Gergely Madaras and Massimiliano Caldi. The festival will present a diverse and engaging repertoire of well-known classics and contemporary masterpieces, including works by Verdi, Beethoven, Debussy, Mendelssohn, Strauss, Dvořák and Composer-in-Residence, Alexey Shor.
InClassica has a stellar line-up of highly respected A-class international soloists. Every concert offers world-class classical musical performances; here are just a few highlights that are not to be missed:
- Echo-Preis Klassik Award and German Music Critics’ Best Recording of the Year Award, world-famous pianist and composer Fazil Say (Turkey);
- International award-winning pianist and composer who has performed with several orchestras across the globe Huseyin Sermet (Turkey);
- The first Korean gold medallist of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and winner of the 2015 International German Piano Award, the 2014 Vendome Prize held at the Verbier Festival, avid chamber musician and more Yekwon Sunwoo (Korea)
- Metropolitan Opera Star, Grammy-nominated exclusive Decca Classics recording artist, recipient of the 2014 International Opera Awards’ Readers’ Award, Malta’s first cultural ambassador since 2012 and one of the best lyric tenors nowadays Joseph Calleja (Malta).
In addition to the festival’s schedule of world-class performances, the third edition of the “Classic Strings” Violin and Cello International Competition, is taking place from May 9th–23rd, 2022. This event will welcome some of the finest young string players in the world to Dubai, for a competition celebrating the best of artistic excellence and technical prowess.
This series of events is presented by SAMIT Event Group, a Dubai-based organization with a track record of delivering high quality, large-scale cultural projects, and welcomes leading broadcasters medici.tv, Euronews and the Violin Channel as the official media partners for the festival.
