Dubai 30 March – Presented today in the Italian Pavilion of Expo 2020 Dubai, the documentary film “Ennio” by Italian director Giuseppe Tornatore. The special screening closes the universal exhibition by celebrating the Italian creative genius, through one of the most distinguished personalities of international music and culture. The event is a Special Project of the Cinema and Audiovisual Directorate General of the Italian Ministry of Culture organized by Cinecittà. “Ennio” is the portrait of Morricone, the most popular and prolific musician of the twentieth century, two times Oscar winner, author of over five hundred unforgettable soundtracks. In the documentary Tornatore interviews the Master but there are also testimonies of distinguished personalities such as Dario Argento, Bernardo Bertolucci, Bruce Springsteen, Lina Wertmüller, Marco Bellocchio, Nicola Piovani, Roberto Faenza, Carlo Verdone, Oliver Stone, Quentin Tarantino. Roberto Stabile – Head of Special Projects of the Ministry of Culture at Cinecittà – has presented the event to H.E. Reem Al Hashimy, Minister for International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates and Director General of Expo Dubai, pleased with the fact that Expo 2020 has exceeded 23 million visitors, a significant fact considering that Expo 2015 Milan had almost reached the same number of visitors, even without having to face any health emergency. Minister Reem Al Hashimy added that the Expo will close with exciting numbers, not only due to the turnout of the public but also in terms of quality, having produced new business opportunities and many new companies established in the Emirates.
H.E. Noora al Khaabi, U.A.E. Minister of Culture and Youth said: “I would like to see our Cultural and Creative Industries to develop and growth. Here the cultural communities are already collaborating with their Italian counterparts and the cooperation will continue after Expo2020”. The collaboration between the two countries is confirmed by the fact that Roberto Stabile is already working to organize joint activities with the U.A.E. starting from the next edition of the Venice Film Festival.
