DUBAI, 30 January 2022 – Eye-catching lacemaking skills were on display today (30 January) at the Poland Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, where models in traditional dress took to the catwalk.
Top lacemakers from Koniaków, a mountain village renowned for its lace, contributed to the intricate outfits, which were modelled alongside vibrant traditional folk designs.
The Poland Pavilion, in the Mobility District, is also home to the world’s largest lace doily, with an impressive diameter of 5.32 metres. Recognised with a Guinness World Record earlier this month, the lace creation was the work of Polish grandmother Zuzanna Ptak, with the help of her two daughters and granddaughter. More than 60 kilometres of cotton thread was used to make the masterpiece in a period of four months.
The Flowers of Koniaków fashion show takes place daily until 2 February, from 1500-1545 GST at the Poland Pavilion.
