DUBAI, 16 January 2022 – Performing at Expo 2020 Dubai for fans in the UAE is an “honour” that will not be forgotten, K-pop girl group (G)I-dle and boyband Golden Child said ahead of their performances on the Jubilee Stage today (16 January).
The two bands are part of an impressive concert line-up of K-pop artists that also includes PSY, Stray Kids, Sunmi and Fortsella – all of whom will take to the stage in celebration of the Republic of Korea’s Expo 2020 Dubai National Day.
(G)I-dle said: “Expo 2020 Dubai is a huge event and we are here representing our country. We are proud of that. We know that there are a lot of fans in Dubai, and performing tonight is a very good chance for us to meet them. It has been a long time since we came together for a concert and we hope our fans have a good time. We are so happy to be here. We know that our fans are excited, so we are ready to get the party started!”
The quintet – Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi and Shuhua – said that beyond Expo 2020 Dubai, while in Dubai they are also excited to visit the Burj Khalifa, because they had previously seen the world’s tallest building in movies and on social media.
Equally excited, Golden Child said: “We are so honoured to be at Expo 2020 Dubai. We did not sleep the day before we came to Dubai because we were so excited. It is really awesome to be here and thank you for inviting us to this huge festival. Golden Child have come to Dubai for the first time and we know that all our fans are cheering for us, and we knew that, so we prepared very hard. It is an honour to be here. We will do everything in our power to offer our fans a performance they will not forget.”
During their visit to Expo 2020 Dubai, the boy band hope to tour the UAE Pavilion and the Republic of Korea Pavilion.
The Republic of Korea National Day K-Pop Concert will run from 1930-2130 at the Jubilee Stage.
