DUBAI, 14 January 2022 – The famed Italian multi-ethnic group, Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio, which has brought together musicians from all over the world, showcased diversity in action during a performance on Friday at Expo 2020’s Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre.
The orchestra’s lively, fast-paced repertoire had the audience swaying and clapping to the Latino groove.
The group comprises mainly immigrants living in Rome and was founded in the city’s Esquilino district 20 years ago. Over the years, it has created a line-up of more than 100 musicians from Tunisia, India, Argentina, Cuba, Ecuador, Romania, Mexico, Ecuador, Cuba, Brazil, Senegal and Italy, among others, weaving together their talent and traditional instruments.
An eponymous film has been made in honour of Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio. The ensemble has so far performed more than 1,500 times across the world.
