DUBAI, 9 January 2022 – The Colombia Pavilion is set to bring a host of music, dance and cultural activities to Expo 2020 as part of its week-long Colombia Tourism Fest that runs from 9-16 January as part of Expo 2020 Dubai’s Travel and Connectivity Week.
The activities kicked off on Sunday with three performances by Salsodromo dancers at the pavilion, to be followed by Urban Colombian Music on Monday at 1700, 1800 and 1900 GST. The pavilion’s auditorium will host the Carnival of Barranquilla on 11 January at 1700, 1800 and 1900 GST.
Dance enthusiasts can try their hand at Zumba, with classes being held at the pavilion on 12 and 15 January at 1700, 1800 and 1900 GST.
Colombia will also bring one of the country’s biggest dance and cultural icons, Antonina Canal, to Expo for shows that fuse Arab dance movements with Latin rhythms. There will be two performances at Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre – on 13 January at 1800 GST and on 16 January at 1400 GST. Canal will also deliver a talk on ‘Women of the Next Century’ at the Colombia Pavilion on 14 January at 1700 GST.
Grupo Bahía, whose music is represents the culture of Colombia’s Pacific coast, will perform at the Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre on 13 January at 2100, and again at the Colombia Pavilion on 14 January at 1700 GST.
The Colombia Tourism Fest has been designed to showcase the country’s six top tourist regions: Greater Colombian Caribbean; Colombian Pacific; Colombian Western Andes; Colombian Eastern Andes; Colombian Massif; and Amazon-Orinoco.
On each day of the week, the pavilion will host cultural events related to a different region, with a gastronomic sample that includes coffee, cocoa, fruits, ice cream and other typical dishes.
