DUBAI, 6 January 2021 – Lebanese singer and actor Assi El Hallani took over the Jubilee Stage this evening (6 January) with a set decorated by vocal techniques and skilful oud playing.
Now with more than a dozen albums under his belt, El Hallani’s career started at the age of 17, after winning Studio El Fan, a TV programme for young artists. Today, he is a judge in the Middle Eastern version of The Voice and a regular on the festival circuit, both in the Arab region and further afield, and has also developed a reputation for dedication to charities and humanitarian issues.
El Hallani employed a variety of Arabic dialects and kept the Jubilee Stage audience mesmerised with some of his hits, including Wani Mareq Mareet, Amshi Lihali and Mali Saber.
Other highlights included songs from his latest album All Seasons, which was released last year, such as Habib, about his son. All of his performance carried important messages, while reflecting the artist’s pride in his Arabic heritage. The multi-dialect songs also gave insight into the challenges that his homeland has gone through – and is still enduring – with a missive of hope that Lebanon’s spirit will return to the country.-
