DUBAI, 4 January 2021 – Tunisia’s leading artists captivated audiences tonight (4 January) at Jubilee Park with a wonderful musical celebration of the North African nation’s Expo 2020 National Day.
Mehdi Ayachi, Mohamed Lassoued and Zied Gharsa took the audience on an engaging journey through Tunisian music with their own individual interpretations of Malouf – music imported from Andalusia after the Spanish conquest in the 16th century.
The trio lauded the Expo 2020 platform for bringing different cultures together through music, while the vocal resonance of Gharsa – a familiar face on the Tunisian and Grand Maghreb festival circuit, and one of the best interpreters of Tunisian’s rich musical heritage – enraptured the audience.
Ayachi, who won the title of the sweetest voice on Season Five of The Voice with Ragheb Alama, proved a big hit with the crowd, as did Tunisian maestro Lassoued.
